Boeing and American Airlines to Accelerate Quieter, Cleaner Aviation Technologies

LE BOURGET, France, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Reducing fuel consumption, carbon emissions and community noise are the focus as Boeing (NYSE: BA) and American Airlines (NYSE: AMR) announced that the airline will be the launch customer for the evolutionary ecoDemonstrator Program. A Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft will be used to flight test and accelerate the market readiness of emerging technologies.

Boeing Delivers First 737 with Performance Improvement Engines

SEATTLE, July 21, 2011 – The first Boeing [NYSE: BA] Next-Generation 737 with the certified performance improvement engines was delivered on a 737-800 to China Southern Airlines at Boeing Field in Seattle last week.

The new CFM56-7BE engine configuration, which is now standard on all delivered 737s, is an improved design that includes high and low pressure turbine modification. Coupled with drag reduction improvements that Boeing started phasing into 737 production earlier this year, it will result in lower fuel consumption and maintenance cost savings.

Boeing Delivers Air Austral’s First Next-Generation 737-800

SEATTLE, Dec. 20, 2010 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] delivered a Next-Generation 737-800 to Air Austral, as part of the airline’s modernization plan for its medium-haul fleet. The airplane is the first of two the airline ordered to replace one 737-300 and one 737-500 in its fleet. The new airplane continues the Boeing-Air Austral relationship that began 20 years ago with the 737 Classic. The delivery ceremony was attended by Gerard Etheve, president of the directory and chief executive officer of Air Austral. The airline is headquartered in St. Denis, Reunion, a French Department island located east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean.

Boeing Delivers First 737 Boeing Sky Interior to Continental Airlines

SEATTLE, Dec. 29, 2010 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] today delivered its innovative 737 Boeing Sky Interior on a 737-800 to U.S.-based carrier Continental Airlines. Five launch customers received the new interior this year on a total of 13 airplanes flying in four regions of the world.

The airplane also marks a new record for 737 yearly deliveries at 376. The previous record was 372 deliveries in 2009.
