A day after Air Vice Marshal Greg Bagwell, the head of RAF combat operations over Libya said the Libyan air force was effectively wiped out -- to use his words: "their air force no longer exists as a fighting force -- the French air force has demonstrated that was not entirely the case.
In the first air-to-air engagement associated with the no-fly-zone enforcement over Libya, reports out of France say one if the country's aircraft has shot down a Libyan G-2A light attack aircraft.
The engagement took place near Misrata, where some of the heaviest fighting has been taking place.
